When choosing the right size for a christening gown, the most important thing is that your child feels comfortable and that the gown falls beautifully. That is why I always work from two simple measurements: chest measurement and the child’s length. All you need is a measuring tape and a quiet moment.

How to measure the chest
The chest measurement is the most important measurement because the gown should fit softly and naturally around the upper body. Lay your child on their back or hold them against your shoulder Place the measuring tape around the chest, just under the arms Measure all the way around Keep the measurement loose enough to allow for breathing and movement If you are unsure, always choose the larger of two sizes — small children grow quickly.

How to measure your child’s length
The length helps determine how the skirt will fall. Lay your child on a soft surface Measure from shoulder to heel You do not need to be precise down to the millimetre — the gowns are designed to fall beautifully even with small differences

Size guide
Here is a simple overview of the three most common sizes:
- 0–3 months Typical chest measurement: approx. 40–44 cm. Child’s length: approx. 50–60 cm
- 3–6 months Typical chest measurement: approx. 44–47 cm. Child’s length: approx. 60–68 cm
- 6–9 months Typical chest measurement: approx. 47–50+ cm. Child’s length: approx. 68–74 cm
Every child is different, so use these measurements as a guide.
